SHLC was convened by the World Bank Groups's International Finance Corporation under the Eco cities initiative aided by European Union. It also has backing from private sectors involving PNB Housing Finance Corporaion, HDFC Limited, Godrej Properties Limited, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, and others major real-estate developers.
